You will not be able to get your driver’s license until you are a UAE resident and you will be shown how to go about that. You do need to get your International Drivers Licence at the AA before you leave NZ – and bring both your NZ and your International licences with you. Bring several passport style photos with you - at least a dozen.

Those currently with Abu Dhabi residency, of course, will go through a residency transfer to Cognition (from your previous sponsor) process and we expect it not to affect such matters.
