Welcome to Cognition and the Public Private Partnership – the Abu Dhabi project in support of school reform. This is a very exciting and challenging time for everyone and we want to provide you with as much assistance and information as we can, as you take up your position with us.

The material we are providing here is in no way meant to be comprehensive in answering all the many questions you will have about living and working in the UAE, the schools you will be in, where you will be living - and the job you will be doing, but we hope that this will be a start. It should also guide you into getting the most out of the two inductions you will have into Cognition – the organisation, the project, and our team.

People are coming into this project from New Zealand, other Cognition contracts in Abu Dhabi, and other countries. Our organisation is grounded in our New Zealand experience, but very much enriched by the international knowledge and understanding that team members bring.

Thank you for your commitment to us. We know that for many of you, this represents a great upheaval in your life not just for you but also for family members.

We hope therefore that these answers to frequently asked questions will set your mind at rest on many points. Be reassured, however, that our induction, both in New Zealand and when we all come together in Abu Dhabi, will be comprehensive, and will add the detail that is not included here.
