Regional Symposia PDF Print

There’s no doubt that for many schools the concept of identifying students as ‘gifted and talented’ poses a number of challenges. Perhaps even more challenging is the need to deliver a curriculum that provides these students with an appropriate level of challenge and considers the importance of culture in developing programmes.

Cognition invites you to register at a ‘Gifted and Talented Education Symposia’ near you.

The symposia theme ‘Realising Potential and Developing Relationships’ provides a focus for bringing together representatives from our education sector that highlight research, practice and opportunities for meeting the needs of these students.

The target audience for the regional symposia are school leader and teachers.

The major objectives of the Regional Symposia are to:

  • Share critical information about Gifted and Talented policy, research and practice in New Zealand and internationally
  • Focus on raising academic outcomes for New Zealand’s most able learners
  • Provide an opportunity for attendees to make connections with other schools and service providers/professionals in this field
  • Raise the awareness of gifted and talented students; with a particularly focus on Maori and Pasifika students

SERVICE PROVIDERS
We will endeavour to allocate adequate speaking time for service providers during the regional symposia. We have purposely included a section in the symposia for this. However time will depend largely on the number of representatives who register at each of the events.

It is expected that service providers have the professional expertise and experience in this area and have a clear understanding of the New Zealand educational landscape.

PLEASE NOTE
The Ministry of Education has engaged Cognition to provide service providers who are active in the domain with a platform at the symposia.  However Cognition Education or the Ministry of Education does not attest to the particular quality or otherwise of any service provider’s offering.  Cognition Education advises that schools seeking provision from any provider should exercise normal market prudence in assessing the value of the proposed purchase.

All service providers must contact Micheal King, Project Manager on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 09 638 4834 or 027 272 0704.
