The Ministry of Education (MoE) has engaged Cognition Education Limited (Cognition) to deliver the ‘Gifted and Talented Education’ contract.
The broad objectives of the contract are to:
The Ministry of Education have agreed that Cognition should focus this particular work strand with schools in rural and/or low socio economic areas with high proportional Māori and Pasifika students.
Cognition will be undertaking professional development with a cluster of 10 schools in each of the following regions:
Target Areas
- Auckland
- Wellington
- Rural Schools (online)
Target Groups
- School leaders
- Year 4 & Year 8 teachers
- Parents
- Students
Major Objectives
The major objectives of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) are to:
- Provide high quality professional development to teachers in the area of Gifted and Talented education
- Focus on raising academic outcomes for the most able learners in each class, and
- Assist in gathering data that will inform future professional development
This module will be quality assured by Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) faculty
